Then they wouldn't have gone back to the swamp. They would've lived in the Far Far Away Palace as King and Queen and Artie would've remained at Worcestershire. In Shrek 4, when Shrek signs the deal with Rumpel, it would've turned him back into an ogre and when he goes back to the normal reality at the end, he would've turned human again.
