That just gave me the idea they could make Romeo and Juliet the antagonists

Okay guys calm down lol

So the main thing with a new villain would have to be a character (or several characters) that make sense for being a real threat to the Shrek characters, while also subverting tropes without being too predictable or plain dumb. For instance, it would be problematic to have Gaston as a villain since he's not only an established bad guy, but that truly walks on thin ice for Disney copyright (Gaston was never in the original story of Beauty and the Beast). Not to mention it's more likely we'll have something a little more clever, like the Pied Piper coming back as the main villain; Peter Pan being a potential antagonist (which I read online and it's one of the better suggestions); or an original creation like Lord Farquaad who can more or less parallel specific fairy tale tropes. Maybe even borrow from mythology by having Hades and Persephone involved- since they are an established couple and it can be an excuse to bring Death back. And by simply throwing in a random fairy tale or literary character without taking into account the appropriateness of the story and world-building would just make things way too complicated.

And also because I'm a nerd, half of those characters on the list were depicted in spin-off material (Jack and the Beanstalk was literally the bulk of the first Puss in Boots film, and we even SAW Jack himself lol), or were at the very least mentioned.

I forgot about Jack in puss in boots my bad, I was more referring to the giant from the story who was never seen, and that I would like to see as the villain

There could be another one, there's multiple versions of different characters in the Shrek verse. For example two rumpelstilskins and two sets of the three bears

We don't know that for sure. Those were just continuity errors or retcons, which happens A LOT in media.

However there could be many giants, so I see where you're coming from there. But idk they'd probably be more clever than that

I kind of would like to see the 5th villain be an Animal or Fairy Tale Creature since the past four have all been humans or magical humans . I thought of either Foxy Loxy or the Troll from the Billy goats gruff story

I want to hear Death's whistle when the main villain dies in the 5th movie

It's one big reason why I hope 5 explores Shrek's past and maybe there's an ogre antagonist. Shreks father is strongly hinted to be malicious but not sure if he would be the villain or not. I kind of doubt they would do it though since 4 had the ogre army that were heros
