So we just got an update that Universal put Minions 3 (initially slated for 2027) in their 1st July, 2026 release date which was initially the slot for Shrek 5.
Shrek 5 has now been assigned a Christmas release slot of 23rd December, 2026. So although it's releasing the same year as Toy Story 5, it's going to face financial competition from Ice Age 6 and the Jumanji sequel, both are money making franchises.
Another Update: Conrad Vernon, one of the directors of Shrek 2 has been announced to direct the movie alongside Walter Dohrn.
