Ok I watched through all the Shrek movies and the shorts and now when Last Wish revived the series it broke box office records out of all Dreamworks movies like the company is going all out, however there is one character from that one film I feel like received too much attention and is treated accordingly across in many communities, even people who hasn't dived into the series uses him a lot, and you guessed it, Death the wolf.
So let's dive into his character or if you can call it that, he has little to no character development at all, no comedy, nothing. The other Shrek villains had more development and screen time than him, hell, even Jack Horner had more development than him with some comedy moments in it.
All he did in the entire film is stalk Puss and try to get his hands on him, forcing him to fight back against him, that's it. This might sound like a controversial take but I don't think he is a fun villain at all, and I do enjoy lots of the previous villains in the series. Sure he does have cool abilities but what he is worth to the plot of the series, he is almost bland as a normal knight.
Overall, I don't think Death is a horrible character, but he is seen as the center of the whole series, overshadowing the other villains like Lord Farquaad and Prince Charming who have more comedy and action, if you disagree with me, that is fine, thank you for reading this.
Clearly, Perrito narrowly missed drowning in the river. So, Death couldn't capture his soul (at a situation like that), and should hold him in contempt.
On the other hand, Death might also have great respect for Perrito because that puppy knows perfectly he must make the most of his life.
There are even theories that say that Death made the hole in the sock.
What are your points of view? What would Death say to Perrito if he met him in the Star sequence?
