Bootsmotel

Boots Motel is a story told by Donkey and Puss in the Halloween special, Scared Shrekless.

It is a parody of the horror franchise film Psycho.

Scared Shrekless[]

Donkey and Puss are trying to seek shelter during a rainstorm. They find a motel in the shape of a boot, which will help them for the night. As they progress though the story, Donkey and Puss constantly interrupt each other (in and out of the tale) causing a general lack of focus. They are greeted by the owner of the motel, who made Donkey feel "all bubbly inside." The two talk about their accommodations while staying, with Puss eventually deciding to take a tongue bath to calm down. However, he is soon visited by the motel owner, who opens the show curtains and is revealed to be holding a knife. Puss is then killed, with his fur going down the drain. The story was supposed to end there, but Puss tries to continue to tale by claiming that he was fully prepared to defend himself from the owner's attempted murder.

Donkey busts down the door to "save" Puss before the owner could kill him. It is revealed that the owner was actually Prince Charming in disguise, and was "packing heat and wanted revenge." He wields Fairy Godmother's wand and zaps Puss into a pile of ash. Puss once again tries to continue the story, this time saying that he deflecting the wand's lightning and leapt to safety- which was apparently what Charming wanted him to do, according to Donkey. After laughing maniacally, Charming pulls a lever which opens a trap door that leads Puss into the mouth of an animated Charming head. Once more, Puss claims that he wouldn't let that ever happen to him, and tries to end the story by saying it was "all a dream." Donkey prolongs the tale even further by making Puss get trapped in his own bed due to the bedroom being upside down. Now in total darkness, only the floating eyes of Donkey and Puss are seen, with Donkey claiming that Puss was horrified and pleading for mercy. Suddenly, the lights come back on and Donkey is taking a shower. Hearing loud footsteps, Donkey opens the shower curtains to find a giant, donkey-eating waffle who was "packing heat and wanted revenge", which makes him shriek in horror. Donkey tries to outrun the waffle, but fails due to running on a buttery plate while wearing a pink tutu, sombrero, and coconut brassiere. He is quickly gobbled up by the waffle and is never seen again.

In one final attempt to continue the story, Donkey emerges from the waffle's mouth and claims that something that Puss feared the most was right behind him. Genuinely scaring Puss, he is quickly horrified by Pinocchio spraying him with a spray bottle. He runs off from the scene, officially ending the story. Donkey then gives Pinocchio money for partaking in the prank, to which Shrek argues that what they did was cheating.

Trivia[]

  • The famous opening theme from Psycho plays throughout the entire story. It is especially noticeable when Donkey is running away from the giant waffle.
