The Candy Apple as seen in "Donkey's Christmas Shrektacular"

The Candy Apple is a location that appeared in Shrek Forever After and Donkey's Christmas Shrektacular. It is a much more welcoming, family-oriented version of the former villains tavern, Poison Apple.

Appearances[]

Shrek Forever After[]

The eatery makes its first appearance in this film, where the Ogre Triplets are having their birthday party. Here, Shrek gets continuously more frustrated in the area, with almost everyone there getting on his nerves. He later roars out of fury at the sight of every irritation surrounding him. It only gets worse when everyone cheers for him, causing him to smash the spare birthday cake.

In the alternate reality, it was still the Poison Apple, due to Arthur not being there to convince the villains to stop being evil. However it had since been abandoned since Rumpelstiltskin took over.

At the end of the film, Shrek returns to the Candy Apple, where he originally lashed out on everyone. He reunites with Donkey, Puss, Fiona and the triplets, and is much happier around his peers after defeating Rumpelstiltskin.

Donkey's Christmas Shrektacular[]

The last known appearance of the establishment was in this holiday short film. Donkey is hosting a Christmas caroling get-together with his closest fairy tale friends, and sings his heart out. They had both regular Christmas food and ogre food set out on the table, with numerous Christmas decorations, including a mega-sized plastic Santa Claus statue, which freaks out Big Bad Wolf.

Menu[]

Unlike the original Poison Apple, alcoholic beverages and violent flesh-ridden meals are not present. Instead, standard treats take their place.

Trivia[]

  • It's unknown what happened to the other villains who turned good when this establishment was formed. It can be assumed however that they simply went on separate paths.
  • The location might be inspired by popular family chain restaurants seen around the world. More specifically, pizza places such as Chuck e Cheese's or Peter Piper Pizza. Ironically, pizza doesn't appear to be served in this area.
