Liliput

The civilization in all of its tiny glory

The Island of Lilliput is a location seen in the Shrek comics. It is home to the Emperor of Lilliput, who has an intense blood lust along with his people.

In the comics[]

After Shrek, Donkey and Puss get their boat wrecked by Neptune, the three find themselves on an island. Looking for shelter, they discover what appears to be a nearby kingdom. Surprisingly, after taking a few steps it's revealed that the area is extremely tiny. Believing it to be a model kingdom, the trio begin to mess around only to inflict fear into the inhabitants-- who are tiny humans. Feeling guilt, Shrek "tiptoes" to the castle to apologize. To his shock, the Emperor gives him a task due to his enormous size. Rival island, Blefuscu had been attacking their territory, and since Lilliput has a weak defense system, they put all hope on Shrek. Agreeing, the ogre unleashes his breathe onto the enemy ships, scaring them away. The entire civilization celebrates soon after, with the Emperor asking him to stay as their one-man army. Shrek refuses, believing that he can't hurt anymore innocent people, especially of microscopic stature. Despite this, the Emperor lets the celebration commence, lasting until the night. With the trio distracted, a sleeping potion was put into their drinks, making them vulnerable to any type of attack.

The next morning, Shrek awakens to find himself tied down with Puss and Donkey. Because they refused to accept the Emperor's offer, they would be burned alive for the amusement of Lilliput. Thankfully, Gingy arrives to save them, having survived on his own after the extreme wipe out. Being the same size as the citizens, he is able to fight them one-on-one and free his friends. However, the Emperor has his executioner (Larry) throw a ball of fire, attempting to burn the four into a crisp. Instead of killing the four, he causes a chain reaction on the entire kingdom. This helped burn all of the buildings and the residents to the ground. After the incident, Shrek and his friends go home, feeling awful about what they had done to Lilliput and its people.

Puss in Boots: The Last Wish[]

The Lilliputians appeared in the film as a part of "Big" Jack Horner's collection of magical icons. They are trapped inside a bottle aboard a tiny ship. One of the bottles was smashed by Goldilocks when she was threatening the cats and Jack Horner. This caused the ship to fall and the Lilliputians to scatter, presumably killing them in the process.
