Mama Luna is a Cat Lady who owns a Cat Rescue sanctuary for strays and older felines. She had taken in Puss in Boots after his first encounter with Death, treating him like a regular housecat.
Appearance[]
Mama Luna is an old lady of African descent, has fluffy white hair, wears a yellow sweater over her dress, which has red, blue, and yellow cat faces in straight rows along the gown's circumference, and she wears large round-frame glasses, indicating she has sight problems.
Personality[]
Mama Luna is a classic "crazy cat lady" as she keeps numerous cats in her house, loves caring for them, though she has a condescending side to her in that she doesn't allow behavior that she doesn't approve of (such as Puss using the toilet instead of the singular litter box or cooking food instead of eating the dry cat food she provides), and gives her cats silly names, such as Puss's new name, "Pickles."
She is reclusive, denying entry to visitors, thinking they're from the health department. She denies she owns any cats at all. She's clearly not the smartest person in the room, as she was unable to tell that Perrito was a dog in a kitty costume. This might also be due to her eyesight.

Puss in Boots: The Last Wish[]
Residing on the outskirts of Del Mar, Mama Luna owns a house where she takes in stray cats to take care of them. She is recommended by the village doctor to Puss in Boots, who is told to retire as to prevent another sudden death. When Puss arrives to the destination, Mama Luna's Cat Rescue, he is taken in by Mama Luna, who tells him her home will be his "forever home."
She gives him a bath, and names him "Pickles." As Puss/Pickles tries to adjust by using the toilet and cooking himself food, Mama Luna forces him to partake in more normal cat routines; humbling Puss by feeding him dry cat food, and making him use the litter box like the other cats.
When taking a nap with several of her lap cats, her home is suddenly attacked by Goldilocks and the Three Bears Crime Family. The four are looking for Puss in Boots, who was suspected to be in the house thanks to Baby Bear's scent detecting. Assuming they're from the health department, she begins to act on the defense such as hitting Papa Bear with a broom, and running to the "safe room" with her cats. Before she can make a break for it, she is abruptly shoved into her piano by Papa Bear.
Once Puss is declared dead by the criminals, he leaves Mama Luna's house and ventures to steal the map to the Wishing Star.

- She has apparently been stuffed in a piano a few times prior to Papa Bear's attack.
- In early stages of the film's development, she was the mother of the doctor that tells Puss to retire. While he recommended Mama Luna to take care of Puss, it is not mentioned whether or not the two were related in the final film.
- A rejected idea for how Puss would escape Goldilocks and the Three Bears had Puss raiding Mama Luna's closet to disguise himself in her clothing and wigs.
- Mama Luna has major presence in Shrek's Swamp at Universal Studio's DreamWorks Land in Florida. Her house resides near the swamp area and is known as "Mama Luna's Feline Fiesta," and features various cat toys and household items that can be used to play with virtual cats. A portrait of Mama Luna herself can be seen, which takes on the more pseudo-realistic art style in the main Shrek series.
