Peter Pan is a character that only appears in the first Shrek film. He originates from J.M. Barrie's play, Peter Pan, or the Boy Who Wouldn't Grow Up. Peter was mistaken for in Shrek The Third.

Biography

Shrek

In Shrek, Peter is seen waiting in line to sell Tinkerbell to Lord Farquaad's army. When Tinkerbell inadvertently sprinkles fairy dust on Donkey, Peter cries "He can fly!".

Shrek 4-D

While not appearing physically, his name can be spotted in the queue. On Shrek and Fiona's scrapbook, a guest list for their wedding is shown. Peter Pan was among those who were invited, and attended with a quote saying "Call me when you have kids".

Shrek the Third

Though not physically appearing in this film, when the villains enter Far Far Away, Captain Hook stops by a local boy, mistaking him for Peter Pan. When a girl corrects the pirate, he responds, "Shut it, Wendy!".

Shrek the Musical

Pan is seen in the musical as a fairy tale character evicted to Shrek's Swamp. Before singing "Freak Flag", he suggests that everyone close their eyes and "clap really, really hard." Pinocchio tells him to grow up. Pan responds by saying "I won't grow up!" to which Pinocchio says "You're 34 and needing a shave!".

Swamp Talk

Pan was mentioned in the episode, "What Was Captain Hook's Name Before The Hook?". During a debate over Hook's identity before the hook, Shrek hatches a theory that he was named "Captain Pan". Leading to the idea the Peter might be the son of Captain Hook. This was really just a way for Shrek and Donkey to make a bunch of Star Wars jokes.

Video games

Pan appears in the video game Shrek: Reekin' Havoc where he lost his shadow. The shadow, thanks to Lord Farquaad's ghost, thinks it's the real Peter Pan, and is causing a ruckus in Neverland. In the end, Pan gets his shadow back and his identity is saved.

In the video game, Shrek the Third, it is implied that Captain Hook killed Peter. Though, if the games have any canon with the films, Hook is not surprised when he mistakes a boy for Peter Pan in the film upon which the video game was based.

Trivia

• Considering his appearance in Shrek the Musical being a drastic role reversal compared to the first movie, it could be proof that the musical isn't canon in the main series.
