Puss' sword, laying on the floor after he was disarmed.
Puss in Boots' sword is a fencing weapon used to fight against various foes on his adventures. It is almost always in possession of Puss in case of potential attacks.
Films[]
Shrek 2[]
Puss in Boots is introduced wielding his sword and saying his catchphrase, "Fear me, if you dare!" After his introduction, he places it on the ground and attacks Shrek with his claws. He retrieves his sword after doing his equally iconic wheel movement and carves a "P" with the blade. He is seen using the sword later on in his battle against the guards of the Far Far Away Palace.
Shrek the Third[]
Puss uses the sword in the battle against the pirates on Merlin's island. Donkey, in Puss' body, would use the sword to carve a "D" on Pinocchio's butt during the final showdown against Prince Charming and the villains.
Shrek Forever After[]
Puss is seen with the sword, but only uses it a couple times in the film. The first instance was in the alternate reality, stabbing Dragon to free Donkey from her jaws. In the ending credits, Puss creates several sparklers with his sword for excited villagers.
Puss in Boots[]
In the prequel film, we get to see Puss use his sword on several occasions. He uses it to fight Kitty Softpaws during their first encounter; to launch him, Kitty and Humpty Dumpty from a giant wine bottle; and when fighting the San Ricardo guards when escaping the prison.
Puss in Boots: The Last Wish[]

The sword arguably plays its most important role in the franchise in this film. It is well known that Puss is well-skilled with the sword- being able to flawlessly slay giants, make kabobs, cut ice, open kegs, and even play knife games without any struggle. However, he is overpowered by the strengths of Death, whose sickles overtake the sword significantly. Because of the intense fear enveloping in Puss, he leaves his sword behind in the hands of Death. He wields a stick given to him by Perrito in the interim, attempting to salvage his pride by claiming he abandoned his metal sword because it made things too easy.
Later, Puss retrieves his sword at the Wishing Star after Death had caught up to him. Using newfound strength and courage, Puss is able to use his sword, along with Kitty's Gatito Blade, to win the fight against Death.
