Steve and Ed (also known as the Evil Trees) are two talking trees who speak in a Cockney accent.

Shrek 2[]
Steve and Ed were seen in the Poison Apple having an arm wrestle challenge, and one of the trees' arm breaks off.
Shrek the Third[]
Prince Charming walks into the Poison Apple and asks Steve and Ed (and other villains) to join him so they can take over Far Far Away. Charming also wants to murder Shrek as revenge for killing his mother the Fairy Godmother.
Steve and Ed are later seen guarding an entryway, both equipped with bayonets. At the climax, Steve and Ed discuss how it's difficult to come by honest work when the whole world is against them. In their case, they are evil enchanted tress often judged for their given role in society. One grabs Charming during the talk while revealing their names.
Shrek Forever After[]
While not appearing physically, one of the evil trees is depicted in the storybook opening along with other Shrek the Third villains. The evil tree is also seen with full grown leaves and apples hanging from the branches.
Trivia[]
- They might be based on the trees from the novel, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
- In Shrek 2, Steve's and Ed's eyes glow red, but for unknown reasons in the third film, their eyes do not glow.
