Stromboli (also known as the Puppet Master) is a wood carver who was a regular at the Poison Apple. He was also Pinocchio's former arch-nemesis.

Appearances[]

Shrek the Third[]

He is seen with the regulars in the Poison Apple and is persuaded to join Prince Charming in his plan to take over Far Far Away. In an attempt to persuade him to join, Charming mentions how his "star puppet" abandoned the show to find his father. Remembering the events, he says, "I hate that little wooden puppet".

At the climax of the film, after Charming summons all the villains to subdue the heroes, Arthur assures everyone that they can choose to do other things besides being evil, and Stromboli gives up being a villain.

Shrek the Third (video game)[]

Though he isn't seen, a version of him is in one of the puppet show cutscenes. It is revealed that his name is Stromboli throughout the game, and is referred as that by other characters. One of the levels is also called "Stromboli's Workshop." A portrait of him can also be spotted in his workshop.

Trivia[]

  • He is based on the villainous character with the same name from Disney's Pinocchio, an animated adaptation of Carlo Collodi's novel, The Adventures of Pinocchio.
  • Strangely, the puppet master from the original story wasn’t a villain, but a one-shot ally to Pinocchio.
