"The Pied Piper of Hamelin" is a German legend spread across many centuries. The legend has been referenced throughout the Shrek franchise, with the most prominent being Shrek Forever After. It was depicted through a storybook animation and several trivia games in the "Shrek: Totally Tangled Tales" DVD game.
Basic overview[]
After ridding the rat infestation in the town of Hamelin, the Pied Piper is refused payment due to his unorthodox approach. Furious, he gets revenge by luring the town's children away into an uncertain fate.

- Eric Idle portrayed the Piper in an adaptation of the legend in Shelley Duvall's Faerie Tale Theater in 1995. He would later voice Merlin in Shrek the Third.
